I have been involved with the Big Brother Big Sister (BBBS) program for over 7 years. My first Little and I were together in the until she graduated and my new Little and I are looking forward to celebrating one year together in March 2022. When the Artist Opportunity Grant was announced, I submitted to create a large scale public artwork and gift it to this organization that has brought me so much joy. The proposed artwork would be an abstract diptych, using the BBBS logo as a loose framework for building up textures and colors. I wanted the work to be timeless, inviting and texturally rich. The final art was installed in December 2021 and is viewable in the front office, located at 22 S Jefferson Street in Dayton. This project was made possible in part by an Artist Opportunity Grant funded by the Montgomery County Arts & Cultural District and administered by Culture Works.
