SOLO SHOW: Finishing up Junc Yard and then I will be ready for the upcoming May 4th and May 11th Wasp in a Wig exhibition in Dayton, OH. 17 new paintings inspired by the writings of Lewis Carroll, and a lot more goodies! The Wasp paintings will go on to the Fitton Center for Creative Arts, Hamilton, OH, opening on June 15th (my birthday!).

DAI DAYTON: Hermon’s Place will be showing at The Dayton Art Institute’s Experiencenter exhibit, Inside the Box. Opens April 28th. Just posted some photos from the artist’s reception.

MUSEUM: Crude is headed to the Masur Museum of Art for their 49th Annual Juried Competition.

PUBLICATION: My piece, Loss, will be in Issue 5 of the Mock Turtle Zine. Look for it during Urban Nights on May 11th!

UPCOMING: Working out the details on a collaborative project with Basho Apparel. I will be designing 5 pieces of wearable art as well as a design that will only be available opening night, July 6th. More info soon!

Discover how the simple box can be changed from something ordinary into something EXTRAordinary when you explore INSIDE THE BOX, the Experiencenter’s newest exhibition. Opens April 28, 2012, closes April 2013.

INSIDE THE BOX demonstrates the beauty of the box as seen through the eyes of artists from various cultures as represented in the museum’s permanent collection. The exhibition also includes the creative work of area artists who took a simple box and responded to the question: What would you do with an empty box to change it from ordinary to extraordinary?

Part of the exhibition space is devoted to River’s Edge Montessori PreK-8, a Dayton Public School that has partnered with the museum in the development of this exhibition. After coming to the museum for a specialized tour and art-making workshop, students created their own “extraordinary boxes” that are included in the exhibition.

To continue our focus on visitor participation, the exhibition includes numerous box-related activity stations that make connections to the art on display. And be sure to stop in The Art Place for Young Learners, a space where 3 to 6 year olds and their caregivers can engage in fun learning activities with a circus theme.
