The winged figure, inspired by Tracy McElfresh’s Butterfly Dress, must seek shelter from the impending storm. My painting addresses the plight of the Monarch butterfly, whose numbers are being devastated due to loss of habitat and their sole food source, Milkweed.  Changes in the climate have complicated their migratory paths, and this is represented in the fragmented aeronautical charts. “No. 13" is a reference to the Greeting Bridge, located in Preble County.

There are also originals available within the Wasp in a WigIdentification and Vivarium and XO Numia Series Galleries. Please message me with any questions.
